This month is celebrated for its superb climbing conditions, featuring dry and dusty trails that add a unique edge to the trekking experience. Although the mountain experiences a surge in climbers, areas like the western side remain less congested, offering tranquillity amidst the majestic views of the Shira Plateau and Volcano.
The climate on Kilimanjaro during this time is characterized by daytime temperatures averaging around 26°C, with nights cooling down to approximately 15°C. Rainfall is minimal, at about 10 mm, leading to predominantly dry conditions that are ideal for hiking enthusiasts. The skies are mostly clear, providing unobstructed and breathtaking views of the landscapes, especially notable on the cooler western side of the mountain.
August is a lively time on Kilimanjaro, suited for those who relish active, vibrant trails and are well-prepared for the warm days and cooler evenings. Trekkers are advised to bring along a lightweight Merino wool buff to comfortably deal with the occasional dusty winds on their journey.
The Best time to Climb Mount Kilimanjaro is during the dry seasons: January to mid-March and June to October. These months offer stable weather conditions, enhancing the climb's safety and enjoyment. Clear skies and moderate temperatures make for an ideal journey to Africa's iconic peak.
